Medieval Beauty: Tapestries William Morris Art
William Morris is a British designer, artist and craftsman whose designs for art and decorative arts helped create the Arts and Crafts in Victorian times. Morris talents were endless and he turned to poetry, the impression of illuminated manuscripts, wallpaper and many other decorative elements. He is best known, however, for his impressive revival the ancient art of tapestry design.
Although originally studied for holy orders to Oxford embraced art after having met his friend Edward Burne-Jones standing. The decision to become an architect instead embarked on a constant search for artistic freedom which led to the creation not only of some of the Victorian's most famous works, but to revitalize and rebuild the movement Arts and Crafts.
