Iran Travel Tips and general information

Known as Iran Persia until 1935, Iran became an Islamic republic in 1979 after the failure of the Shah was forced into exile. Conservative forces subsequently crushed office Americanization but also influences the liberal-leftists. Iranian student protesters have seized the embassy American in Tehran November 4, 1979 and served until January 20, 1981. From 1980-1988, Iran fought a bloody war with Iraq undecided on the disputed territory. The main current issues facing the country include the pace of acceptance of modernizing influences and reconciliation between the administrative control of the regime and popular government participation and numerous calls for reform. Youth unemployment is also problem.

Ethnic groups and languages

Humans have lived in the area that is the Current by Iran since the Stone Age. The ancient Persians arrived around 1500 BC, a branch of the great movement of people who have also brought the northern India and most of Europe's modern populations. Iran is the name of the same root as "Aryan", which, until Hitler perverted, was the former name of invading peoples. Farsi (Persian Or) is an Indo-European Old Persian is related to Sanskrit, Greek, and everyone in this family. Modern Persian is closely related to Dari, one of the two main languages of Afghanistan and Tajikistan, one of the main languages of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Persians are ethnically and linguistically non-Western neighbors, Arabs and Turks.

However, Iran has many people who are not ethnic Persians. The North-West, Azerbaijan is largely populated by Azerbaijanis, who are ethnically and linguistically close to the Turks. Other regions are mostly Kurds and Baluchis, the other two groups Indo-European. There are also Armenians, Turkmen, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Arabs, and a small community of Jews. The Afghans have come to Iran to work and education for centuries, and many have recently emerged as refugees,

There are also two large communities of people of Iranian origin in India and Pakistan – who were Parsis there for over 1000 years, and the Iranians who arrived in the 19th and 20th centuries – two Zoroastrians who fled religious persecution in Islamic Iran.

History of Iran

Throughout history, Persia has generally been an empire, one whose fortunes vary enormously. In ancient Persia controlled most of what we now call the Middle East, and was about to conquer Greece. between Centuries later, Alexander the Great conquered (inter) throughout the Persian Empire. Later, Persia was conquered by the Arabs Wild in the expansion of Islam in the centuries immediately after the Prophet, Farsi and other languages in the region are still written with the Arabic alphabet. About 1250, Persia was invaded by the Mongols. Marco Polo crossed just after he learned Persian and written extensively on the region.

Other times, Persia conquered many of its neighbors. His empire includes the often critical of what we now call Asia Central (Polo counted as the cities of Bukhara and Samarkand Persian) and sometimes other different fields. A few generations after the Mongols taken Persia. the dynasty that founded it took all of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and most of India. The Indian word "Mughal" for some of their leaders is "Mongol" through Persia. Even in periods when they do not govern, Persia has always exerted great cultural influence of our neighbors, particularly in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

The Persian Safavid dynasty re-United States as an independent state in 1501, established Shiite Islam as a religion official, and inaugurated an era of Golden Persian culture. They were expelled in 1736 by Nadir Shah, the last great conqueror of Asia, which extended Empire of Afghanistan and again a large part of India. His dynasty short term and his successor lasted until 1795. Then Qajar dynasty ruled 1795-1925, a period of intense pressure from foreign powers, especially Great Britain and Russia, jointly occupied Iran During the First World War in 1906, the State became a Constitutional Monarchy Qajar and the Majlis (Parliament Persian) was created
