What size rug for the family room?

We are entering a new house and the family room is tiled and measures 11 feet x 21 feet, I have two chairs that are 9 feet long. I do not know off. I am interested in buying a carpet in the bedrooms and do not know if I should go to 8'x10 'or 10'x13' carpet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
