I’m trying to find instructions for making the braided barrettes from the 80′s. Anyone remember how?

These were the barrettes which used a metal barrette shaped like a rectangle w/ open middle. You used 2 different colors of ribbon, and the ends were long and we added beads to the end. I cannot find instructions online ANYWHERE, but I can’t be the only one old enough to remember these!! Can anyone help? I’ve tried the Wright’s site which seemed to be referenced quite frequently, but it is down. Does anyone remember, or did anyone download the directions from Wright’s? I hope you can help, as I think my five-year-old “princess” would love making these! Thanks!

Here are the directions from Wrights:

MATERIALS:
1/8″ wide double face satin ribbon in two colors
2″ long double bar barrette

INSTRUCTIONS:
Put the two ribbons on top of each other and thread them through the barrette. Center them at the top.

With the two-bar side facing you, braid the ribbon from one side over the first bar and through the center to the other side.

Do the same with the ribbon from the other side, putting it over the first bar and going through the center to the other side. Push it up to the other ribbon and pull it tight each time.

Repeat these steps until you get to the bottom of the barrette. Thread the last ribbon through tightly so that all the ribbons end up on the same side, creating the streamers. Add beads, if desired.
