Why the word "Paki" de so racist? Please read before having a go at me?

Why is it racist to qualify someone a "Paki" if they are from Pakistan, but say Afghanstan Afghan kazack of kazackstan, Uzbek, Uzbekistan probably the same principle applies etc etc.. Is it something to do with the "i" at the end: P, in which case it would be racist to call someone Pak. Please do not go to me to be racist, I'm just curious why this is so, I have nothing against the people of Pakistan elsewhere for that matter, so keep your words judgment yourself. if it is an insult, I have another question, how is it that Pakistanis, etc., do not get a load of stick tape or call us British? Political correctness gone mad. etc. I also assume that Afghanistan is not the correct TEM, is somewhat less publicized as being racist.
