Disgrace is a novel of a man, even declining a family. David Lurie is a university professor, the kind of teacher who was home with school supplies that the course requirements of the application is no longer. He is also divorced, twice, and even in the best shape it has to cope with the trials and tribulations of his life unraveled and the race.

He needs sex and regular visits to a prostitute with regularity, always the same, and harbors suspicions that gives greater the activity. She also suffers from self-deception. So when an association with One of his students, who really thinks she wants it for what it is, despite his thirty Years Old. He is convinced she is a participant consenting. It is bitter. She reports. There is a committee. It cooperates, maybe, but not in the form required by the customs with which they can identify. Ideally disorderly, he resigned. And lose their benefits.

David goes to live with her daughter in a rural Eastern Cape. He discovered the complexity of the relationship between black and white, at least less obvious in the urban environment of Cape Town. He is ready to make concessions, but it will not be easy.

Nobody seems be able to say what they want or what they feel.

We only know by reading the tacit assumption of others and interpret them correctly. Unfortunately this is also the revenge compensation on the adjustment of accounts, the inclusion and exclusion. The argument is strong, but the colors are stronger.

Is an unfortunate book presenting the individual experience and managed by a comment on the changes in South Africa and their society, what has changed is not always for the better and what is kept is not always relevant. But these are reactions to different scenarios, perhaps, rather than an external reality, whatever that might be. Thought However, the apparent simplicity of shame is part of its complexity.
