The name of a particular rug can come from many different sources.
The name of a carpet does indicate the quality or value. They beautiful and not so wonderful carpet is unique. In spite of my personal favorites are Persian and Afghan rugs, merit and beauty in every single county weavers!
Oriental carpets are named as follows:
The name of the city or town where you knit.
The name of the city or the city where it was sold.
The name of the zone in which the weavers lived, where he was first created, weaves now in another part of everything.
The group name known to incorporate tribal design in particular, that many of its carpets.
The name of the country was woven in. Example: Chinese and China, India, Indo-Paki-Pakistan.
This is an example to illustrate some of the above. An Indo (India, a country that has been woven) Persian (Iran, a country where rug design originated) prayer (carpet type) with a tree of life design.
The name of the workshop where weaving, or even the name of master weaver in a workshop or supervision of tissues including parts very special. Example: Haji Jalili (master weaver, NW Iran) Tabriz (city) near the place where there were these rugs.
The name of the producer, production designer Oriental carpet led by carpet weaving loom with such innovative new concepts. Example: William Morris, Arts & Crafts. William Morris founded the Arts and Crafts (Circa 1870-1920) for simple models of good craftsmanship and ornamentation less dominant at the time Victorian.
The name of the type of carpet: An example would be the one who had Gabbeh tissues in a number of different people, especially in southern Iran. See my article, "What a Gabbeh?
The name of the artist often included this particular type of carpet in his art. Examples: Hans Memling, painter Flemish Century 15: Memling Gul.
The name of the design itself as "Eagle Kazak". This usually occurs when a carpet has been copied many times the design is alive.
And last but not least! The city with the dealer or fantasized guessed that was woven in or at what period of time.
Here's an example: An "Antique Qum carpet." Tissue in Qom, Iran, began in the 1930s or later and an old carpet must be at least 100 years, this award is simply hilarious!
Hopefully these examples above give you a better understanding of the names of carpet.
