Although maples are often regarded as the beauty of forests of North America, the great majority of the fifty to sixty species are native to Asia, and particularly the part that lies between the Himalayas and Japan. Sounds like you tried blue wall paint a burgundy red. You have to prime a wall if you like red paint. The color red is a very transparent. Paint the wall with a primer-colored (gray or brown) and then paint the color you want it to be.
