Information And History On The Afghan Hound
Among the oldest breeds of hounds is the Afghan hound. It may even be the first of these breeds. This dog has a fine, silky, long coat with a tail that curls at the end. This dog is fairly tall and can travel long distances easily.
History
This breed originated in what is now Afghanistan and there is evidence that the ancestors of this breed have been around as long as 4000 ago. These sight hounds were used mainly for hunting earlier in their history. They could run through the rugged mountainous terrain easily even when chasing an animal. For this reason, the breed was prized by people living in the mountains of central Asia.
This breed was not widely known until the 1890s, when they first came to England with soldiers returning from Afghanistan. Even today these dogs are rare but are now more commonly pets and show dogs than hunting dogs. They are magnificent looking when groomed for the show ring. They were accepted into the AKC in the year 1926 into the hound group.
Breed Temperament
This breed may look too elegant to be playful but they are in fact very playful as well as being gentle and loving. They love interaction with people. They bond more with their caregivers than with the whole family though. They are quite independent and like to choose when they get companionship and attention. This can vary though within the breed; the females are not usually as aloof as the males.
This breed is not recommended for families with young kids. Even though the Afghan hound is large it does not like surprises. However, this breed can do quite well with older, more predictable children. They play well with other pets as long as they have been properly socialized. Introduce them to the other pets gradually when you can. But they love to run after backyard critters like squirrels so they will need a fenced yard to run freely in if they are not on a leash. If these hounds are not socialized correctly though, their behavior can be erratic.
Health Concerns for the Breed
The Afghan hound can have some health conditions as listed below:
Necrotic myelopathy is a paralysis of the respiratory system that can be deadly.
Allergies
Ear infections and Ear mites can occur like with any dogs that have ears that fold over.
CHD or canine hip dysplasia
Cataracts
Tail injuries
Additionally the breed can have a problem with various things such as anesthesia or other medications.
Breed Grooming Requirements
The Afghan’s long, silky hair has to be groomed everyday to keep it in good condition. It has to be brushed daily to get the tangles out of it. This breed does get trimmed except on the cuffs of their legs sometimes for show purposes. As far as bathing goes, if your dog is only a pet bathe it twice a month. If it is a show dog, it will need to be bathed every week.

The colors of your living room is chocolate brown (couch) and teal (mat). Any ideas for what colors to use for the blanket and the pattern?
I'll take a bit of chocolate brown, tan part and / or beige, teal some and a lighter shade of teal. Depending on the teal, could shed some Sage Green, and because it works very well with coffee and cinnamon. You might also consider making a blanket in shades of brown and tan (monotonous), since they usually coincide with all but one quarter is made entirely of black, white and red (TGI Friday's system of color).

In the recent, LEDs were regarded since limited tools for guide lighting because early diode technologies produced exceptionally cool coloring temperatures. (Cool color temperature is the word for the WHITENESS of mild, not to the WARMTH radiance of light).
